Campus and student life

Our life together is vital to us as we learn to live out our call to be the body of Christ.

There are many opportunities for this to be expressed: in our prayer support and practical service for each other, by our attendance at community events such as regular college worship and the special services such as the end-of-year Valedictory, by eating together in the dining room, or by relaxing together.

Community life is what we make it. It is not always easy but always a privilege.

Food

Good food is important! We have an excellent chef, Henry Bromberg, supported by an able team. Weekday lunches are community events: the food (with a choice of menus) is served at tables in the dining room and two days a week we have notices to help keep us all informed about what is going on. Children are welcome at meal times.

Breakfast is provided for Carter residents (the accommodation building for college-based single students and commuters), where there is also a newly refitted kitchen for student use. Food is also provided there at weekends.

Trinity Together

Fridays are our community days when we have a  'Trinity Together' community event in the morning. This can take the form of a Bible exposition, Gospel in Action, an open discussion forum on a topic of general concern (recently we talked about the disaster in Haiti and theological issues arising out of it), or informal coffee with the principal.

Helping in practical ways

Students are involved in some of the practical aspects of running the college, making an important financial and social contribution and helping to build a sense of community. There is a wide variety of jobs, most of them taking up no more than about two hours a week; Friday afternoons are usually set aside for these tasks. Others involve responsibilities of a continuing nature, such as running the bookshop or taking on Common Room duties.

Bookshop

The bookshop is a resource run for students by students. It is able to give discounts of 25% off the normal retail price and has special offers on sets of books during the year.

Computer facilities

A computer suite is available specifically for students.  Wireless connection is also available in study rooms and lounges. The student computer team is available to assist you and an induction is provided at the start of term.

Library and study rooms

As well as being able to study in the college library, students living in college will have their own study-bedrooms in the Carter building. For students who live off site there are shared study facilities available in the Clifton building which has its own lounge area (right), meeting rooms and kitchen. Some single study rooms are available for postgraduate research students.

Green issues and the environment

Trinity is committed to acting responsibly with regard to the creation that God has given us to care for as stewards. In response to this commitment we are developing an Environmental Policy to help shape our ethos and keep environmental concerns at the heart of what we do. We hold an annual Green Week organised by a student team, to raise awareness of environmental issues. This year's events included a session led by a staff member of A Rocha.
