Trinity receives licence for international students

27 July 2009

Trinity has just received its sponsor's licence from the UK Border Agency which will enable us to continue to admit students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

The government's new points-based system for students, which went live in March 2009, is part of the tougher rules on immigration to the UK, aimed to crack down on bogus colleges and students.  Educational institutions wishing to take non-EEA students now have to be inspected with a view to gaining an official sponsor's licence, without which the students will not be given visas.

As part of the process, Trinity gained accreditation in June by Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC) and was rated a Premier College.
