MLitt
This research degree is an award in its own right as well as the first step towards a doctorate (PhD). The MLitt (Master of Letters) involves the submission of a dissertation of no more than 50,000 words. Students normally take two to three years to complete the MLitt. Transfer to PhD and continuation of registration for a PhD is in all cases subject to satisfactory progress.
Admission to the MLitt programme requires a good BA (Hons) 2:1 in Theology or a good MA in Theology. In either case admission is at the discretion of the University of Bristol Graduate Dean.
All Postgraduate Research Degree students will be assigned an internal supervisor (i.e. a Trinity College or Baptist College faculty member) who is an expert in the field of the student's dissertation topic in order to advise, guide and encourage the student in his or her dissertation.
For international students whose native language is not English a minimum score of 7.0 in an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) test taken not more than two years prior to entry is required. Trinity College also offers extra English language and study skills support for international students.
