Over 90 students from Trinity College, Bristol Baptist College and Wesley College received degrees and other awards at a ceremony today in the Great Hall of the University of Bristol. In introducing the ceremony, Canon George Kovoor, Trinity Principal, spoke of the shared ideals of the University and theological colleges of truth and excellence.

The Bristol University degrees, certificates and diplomas were conferred by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor. These included five degrees of Doctor of Philosophy, one Master of Philosophy, 11 Masters of Arts and 40 BAs in Theology.

Other awards were presented by Dr Anthony Reddie, theologian and author of many books on black theology, who also gave the address. He is Research Fellow and Consultant in Black Theological Studies for the British Methodist Church and the Queen's Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education in Birmingham.

After the Degree Congregation a choir from Trinity College sang an anthem ‘Come let us rejoice' composed by Revd Dr John Corrie, Tutor in Mission.

Many of those who returned for the ceremony are working in churches all over Britain. Others had come from much farther afield, including from Denmark and China.
