Part-time Certificate in Theology
We are now offering a two-year part-time training programme for the Certificate in Theology validated by the University of Bristol.
Classes take place at Trinity on Tuesday evenings and four Saturdays per year. In addition one unit (marked * on the list below) each year will be taught as a single week.
Each teaching unit will take place over eight weeks, with breaks for school half-terms, Christmas and Easter. These classes will enable the student to complete 120 credits.

1. Getting into the New Testament
2. Anglican Worship and Preaching
3. Reading the Bible in Its Context and Ours
4. Following Jesus: Introducing Christian Discipleship
5. Early Christianity* taught as a single week
6. Pastoral Theology and Practice (1)
Year 2
7. Getting into the Old Testament
8. Essentials of Christian Belief
9. New Testament Units
10. Old Testament Unit
11. Continuing the Mission of Jesus
12. Integrated Learning Week* taught as a single week
13. Pastoral Theology and Practice (2)
Each unit will require preliminary reading and the completion of a written assessment.
Teachers
Most of the teaching will be done by Trinity College and Bristol Baptist College faculty.
Aims
Our aim is to help you to
- think about the meaning of the Bible in its context and ours
- relate the Bible and theology to Christian life and ministry today
- work with each other in thinking theologically about issues and challenges in today's world.
Cost
Fees for the two-year course: £ 1,600
University fee: £ 684
A deposit of 50% of the University fee is payable on registration.
Application
Full details of the course will be given to those who enrol. Prospective students will be invited for a short and informal interview as part of the application process.
