Revd Dr Yong Ho Jeon
Junior Research Fellow International Chaplain

Yong Ho Jeon is Junior Research Fellow, helping with the oversight of our research programme and, as International Chaplain, helping Ron and Patty Jackson. He also teaches Elementary New Testament Greek. We are pleased to have this opportunity to welcome a non-western scholar to our faculty.
Yong Ho was brought up in the Korean Church. At the age of 17 he had a vision of the glory and love of God.
He majored in philosophy at Seoul National University and wrote a thesis on Blaise Pascal's understanding of the epistemological structure of man. After military service and work as a freelance translator, he entered Chong-shin Theological Seminary in 1992 where he did a study of the importance of conscience in the conversion and sanctification processes.
From 1993 he worked as a minister mainly to young adults in Nae-soo-dong Presbyterian Church in Seoul. He was ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church of Korea in 1998. God called him to be a proclaimer of the Gospel (2 Timothy 1:11), and so he proclaims God's Word wherever he has the opportunity.
He moved to the UK in 2000 to be the pastor of the Oxford Korean Church, and began studies at Trinity College in 2002. In February 2009 he was awarded his PhD degree in Old Testament on Solomon's faults in Chronicles. Since 2005 he has been pastor of the Korean Church in Reading. He is a member of the Society for Old Testament Studies.
He is married to Hiseon and has a son, Young Seop. In his younger days he gained a black belt in the martial art hapki-do; he likes fishing and Go (a Chinese board game) and plays tennis and table tennis with his son.
The photo was taken at our International Students' reception at the beginning of the year.
